Sometimes Microsoft makes it sound like there will be absolutely no troubles when adding new hardware or upgrading your Windows operating system; but we all know better! As more and more electronics are being connected to your PC, Windows has a more difficult time recognizing all new hardware. West Mountain Radio developed USB drivers for the RIGblaster Plug & Play, and has provided them to Microsoft. These drivers are also provided on the CD that is shipped with the RIGblaster Plug & Play. What do you as a customer need to do when you first purchase a RIGblaster or upgrade your Operating System to ensure that Plug & Play is recognized and the correct USB drivers are installed?
We have outlined some quick and easy installation tips to assist you in getting Windows to recognize the Plug & Play. Literally, we will look at three simple cases dealing with Windows 7, Vista and XP.
- Case 1
You are installing your brand new RIGblaster Plug & Play. If you try to install the drivers from the CD before connecting the RIGblaster to the PC's USB port, chances are something will go wrong! Always plug in the RIGblaster first! Then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install the correct drivers from the software CD or the Microsoft website. - Case 2
You have a working RIGblaster and now you have updated your PC operating system. Your RIGblaster has stopped working. Step 1, unplug your RIGblaster from the USB port of the PC. Step 2, plug it back in! Follow the on-screen instructions that appear on the screen to install the correct drivers from the software CD or the Microsoft website. - Case 3
You have followed the instructions in Case 1 and 2 and your RIGblaster is still not recognized by Windows. Give West Mountain Radio a call! The tech support team would be happy to walk you through the process of configuring the drivers that will make your RIGblaster Plug & Play work with your PC.
